Michael Frank is a composer and sound designer whose work blends the visceral energy of his early punk roots with the cinematic scale of modern film scoring. He first picked up the drums at nine and spent his teens hammering out blistering punk rhythms in Hertfordshire, developing a speed and intensity that would later earn him the nickname “the fastest hands in the west” from Jared Leto during a European tour with Plastic Passion.

His touring years took him across the UK, Europe, and North America, including chaotic, sweat-soaked runs with Arrows of Love and festival stages such as SXSW. In the middle of all that noise and deliberate disorder, Michael’s role was often the anchor: holding the music together while everything around him tried to fall apart on purpose.

In 2012, he shifted his focus toward recorded and visual storytelling, moving into audio engineering and eventually composition for film, television, animation, games, and advertising. His scores have since earned nominations at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, the International Fashion Film Festival, and the IndieX Awards.

Working from a studio tucked away in a quiet Hertfordshire village, Michael surrounds himself with modular synths, prepared instruments, and unruly drums to craft music that feels alive. His sound draws from Danny Elfman’s theatricality, Sven Libaek’s dreamlike melodies, and Hildur Guðnadóttir’s textural intimacy, weaving organic performance with electronic pulse, noise, and atmosphere.

Recent projects include Unbreakable Women of Ukraine (2025), Rancho Mirage (2023), Grid Slayer (2022), VR Man(2022), and House Slaughter (2020).

A multi-instrumentalist and restless experimenter, Michael’s work is defined by curiosity and instinct — always pushing into new sonic territory while staying grounded in emotional truth.
